The classification of the Polaris Slingshot® is region-dependent*. The most common classifications are motorcycle, which requires a motorcycle endorsement or license, and autocycle which only requires a drivers’ license**. Visit our license requirements.

The Slingshot is federally classified as a three wheeled motorcycle. Most states classify it as an Autocycle, which means that only a valid driver's license is needed to drive the vehicle. 

The Slingshot provides the exhilaration of open-air motoring and proximity to the road like nothing else - and all without needing to know how to operate a motorcycle. The federal classification as a three wheeled motorcycle means it is not required to meet auto safety standards. Like any motor vehicle, drivers should proceed with caution following all local traffic laws.
