Slingshot® arrives in the Aloha state; announces retail availability at Montgomery Powersports Hawaii

Hawaii to Classify Slingshot as an “Autocycle” – Allowing Residents to Operate with Standard Driver’s License

HONOLULU (April 11, 2018) – Slingshot®, the bold three-wheeled roadster, today announced its retail availability in the state of Hawaii. Now, Slingshots are available for purchase in all 50 U.S. states. Hawaii residents can visit Montgomery Powersports Hawaii in Honolulu to learn more or to test drive a new 2018 Slingshot.

Because of Slingshot’s unique three-wheeled configuration with a steering wheel, five-speed manual transmission, and side-by-side bucket seats, Slingshot is classified as an” autocycle” in Hawaii. There, drivers can enjoy the open cockpit experience with just a standard driver’s license. Hawaii is one of the 40 plus U.S. states in which Slingshot drivers do not need a motorcycle endorsement to operate.

“We are thrilled to now offer consumers in every state across the country the opportunity to purchase their very own Slingshot,” said Josh Fulkerson, Slingshot Sr. Director. “Hawaii is the ideal location to enjoy the Slingshot lifestyle, as the state’s incredible scenery and mild climate make it an ideal place for a fun, open-air driving experience.”

Given Hawaii is a travel destination unlike any other, residents and visitors alike can experience the thrill of a Slingshot with half-day and full-day rental programs through a premium network of ride and drive experiences called Polaris Adventures. Slingshot rentals are currently available at three locations throughout Hawaii, including Slingshot Hawaii Tours & Rentals (Waikiki), Montgomery Powersports (Honolulu) and Aloha Motorsports (Maui).

Representing the biggest enhancements since its introduction, the 2018 Slingshot lineup takes style, performance and technology to a whole new level. Select 2018 models feature the seven-inch touchscreen RideCommand infotainment system with turn-by-turn navigation, while all Slingshot models are powered by a 2.4L GM engine that creates 173 horsepower and 166 ft-lbs of torque. Slingshot’s 2018 lineup includes three models, the S, SL and SLR, and two limited-edition offerings, the Grand Touring LE and SLR LE. Pricing ranges from an entry-level $19,999 (S) to $30,999 (SLR LE).

Owners can personalize and customize their Slingshot with a variety of Slingshot Engineered Accessories, including the revolutionary Slingshade, a color-match top offering superb rider comfort and sun protection, as well as styling enhancements, tech and audio components, storage options, wind deflectors, riding gear, helmets, driving jackets and street wear. Most of the vehicle accessories are offered in a variety of factory color-matched options.
