When to Change Your Oil

The recommended engine oil and filter changes for your Slingshot can be found listed below and in the Periodic Maintenance Chart of your Owner's Manual.

Change your engine oil and filter annually or at the following intervals, whichever comes first.

  • 500 miles (800 km)
  • 5,000 miles (8,000 km)
  • 10,000 miles (16,000 km)
  • 15,000 miles (24,000 km)
  • 20,000 miles (32,000 km)
  • 25,000 miles (40,000 km)
  • 30,000 miles (48,000 km)
  • 35,000 miles (56,000 km)
  • 40,000 miles (64,000 km)
  • 45,000 miles (72,000 km)
  • 50,000 miles (80,000 km)
  • 100,000 miles (160,000 km)
  • 150,000 miles (240,000 km)

While following the Periodic Maintenance Chart is best, understanding why your oil needs to be changed also is a critical part of maintaining your vehicle. Frequent starts/stops, extended storage periods, extreme changes in temperature, and severe use of the vehicle can lead to premature oil degradation, decreasing your engine's performance and life cycle. Changing your oil at the recommended intervals will ensure consistent and reliable performance for the life of your vehicle.

Vehicles subjected to heavy or severe use patterns must be inspected and serviced more frequently. Severe use of a Slingshot includes:

  • Idling for extended periods
  • High speed operation for extended periods
  • Low speed operation for extended periods
  • Frequent operation in dusty or otherwise adverse conditions
  • Frequent operation in extremely hot or cold climates
  • Frequent short trip cold weather operation
