SLINGSHOT HISTORY – FROM CONCEPT TO MAIN ATTRACTION

Originally conceived as a prototype designed by a group of Polaris engineers in 2010, Slingshot is born to stand out and deliver a ride like no other. We formed a team of skilled designers and engineers to push the boundaries of what we thought possible. Today's Slingshot offers a new level of exhilaration, styling, performance and shared adventure that speaks for itself.

2014

Slingshot quickly advanced from prototype to production in 2014. Vehicles started arriving in dealers later that year. The first offerings were the 2015 Slingshot S and SL models.

2015

A direct descendant of the original model, the Slingshot S was the first of it's kind with unmatched performance and a unique cockpit feel. The SL was the second model available and was created for those who wanted a little more than the basics. It started with the same 2.4L Ecotec 4 cylinder engine and 173 horsepower as the S, but had additional features like a 7" multi-touch display, backup camera and larger custom wheels.

2016

In 2016, new models were added to the lineup, bringing upgrades like turn-by-turn navigation, unique colors, larger alloy wheels, and even the Slingshade, available straight from the factory. To this day, Polaris continues to manufacture Slingshot in the US.

2017

The SLR was first released in 2017, elevating performance and style to new levels for Slingshot. Forged wheels, sport seats, two-tone paint and Sparco accessories added sophisticated features to the lineup.

2018

In 2018 the Grand Touring was added to the Slingshot family with comfort, style, and luxury in mind. The Slingshot Grand Touring added metallic paint, color-matched fenders, quilted comfort seats, and a color-matched Slingshade top. It redefined the Slingshot experience and proved once again why it's the ultimate three-wheeled adventure.

2020

2020 brought a whole new era of Slingshot. The all-new Slingshots were packed with adventure from tip to tail, with 70% new content versus previous generations, including AutoDrive transmission, a new Prostar 2.0L Engine, brand new interior, exterior styling, all-new drive modes, and much more.

2021

Our smoothest and boldest Slingshots yet. In 2021 the refined and retuned AutoDrive transmission dramatically improved shift feel and low-speed clutch engagement for a smoother ride. Exclusive to 2021, the new R Limited Edition launched, this showstopper is one-of-a-kind with its Neon Fade asymmetrical paint and graphics. Customizing a Slingshot has never been easier with our expanded color accent options and the release of four new accessory series packages.

2022

2022 brought an expansion in accessory top offerings with the introduction of the all-new Excursion Top – an integrated toolless install and removable soft top. Slingshot’s all-new Vented Sport Hood adds aggressive, one-of-a-kind styling while improving aerodynamics and cockpit airflow. The SLR returns to blend style with performance. The all-new Slingshot Signature LE is nothing like Slingshot has done before – loaded with premium features that bring unique and impressive finishes to the open road.

2023

2023 was another big year for Slingshot. With attending stand-out events like the Roots Grammy Jam and Leigh Steinberg's Super Bowl Party, the Slingshot brand got in front of more customers than ever before. Also, we launched our collaboration with ROUSH® Performance to debut the all-new Slingshot ROUSH® Edition - our highest performance model with unmistakable ROUSH® looks. We rounded out the year launching our new lineup - with enhancements, bold new colors and graphics, and new accessories to take your ride next level.
