Playing Music with Model Year 2017-2019 Slingshot RIDE COMMAND

On model year 2019 and older Slingshot vehicles, you can listen to audio from AM/FM radio, the weather radio, USB audio or a connected Bluetooth® device. 

Music Source Selector
Press the Music button.

Ride Command Music

To display all available music options, press the button again or tap the source selector button in the top-left corner of the screen.

Tap your desired audio source. 

Select FM Radio

The following buttons are displayed for all audio sources: volume up, volume down and mute. 

AM/FM Radio 
Once AM or FM radio is selected from the source selector button, the following information will show on the screen for the station that is playing. 

Ride Command FM radio

  • Frequency
  • Buttons to tune up/down (0.2 MHz for FM, 10 KHz for AM)
  • Scan buttons to skip forward or backward by available stations
  • Scan button
  • Station name (If available)
  • Artist name (If available)
  • Song name (If available)
  • Audio settings (gear) icon 
  • Signal strength

Along the bottom of the screen are Radio Presets that can be assigned to your favorite stations. To save a preset, tune to the desired frequency and tap and hold the HOLD TO SET. To replace a preset, select the channel you wish to overwrite. Tune to the channel you wish to set as a preset. Hold the preset button to reset the saved channel. 

Weather Band Radio
To access the Weather Band Radio, press the source selector button in the top-left corner of the screen. Select WEATHER RADIO.

Once selected, the screen will display information for the station that is playing, including: 

  • Frequency
  • Station number
  • Audio settings icon 
  • Signal strength

Switch stations by selecting the desired weather station on the bottom of the screen.

Note: Available stations vary by geographic location. 

USB Music Playback 
To access your USB audio, press the source selector button in the top-left corner of the audio screen. Select USB/IPOD. Using the USB port in the glovebox, you can connect a USB flash drive with music loaded or use a USB cable plugged in to your mobile device. Note: If using a USB, expect a short delay in playback while the audio system reads your files.

Once selected, the screen will display information for the song that is playing, including: 

  • Song title
  • Artist 
  • Album name
  • Album artwork (if available)
  • Song progress bar (Includes current location and song length)
  • Audio settings (Gear) Icon
  • Playback controls
  • Repeat (if available)
  • Shuffle (if available)

The anchored bottom bar displays remaining play time, the current song's position in the list and the repeat/shuffle controls.

Note: USB music playback requires a USB 2.0 or 3.0 that is exFAT or FAT32 formatted. Audio file types must be in the .mp3 or .wav formats.

The playback controls available on your display powered by RIDE COMMAND include the following: 

  • Previous song
  • Play/pause
  • Next song
  • More menu

There are three repeat options that can be applied to the music you are playing: no repeat, repeat album/playlist or repeat song. Continually tap the repeat button to cycle through these options. When "1" appears next to the replay icon, the song will repeat. 

All available music categories found on the connected USB device appear under the More menu, shown below. Tapping the More menu will reveal a pop-up window.

From here, you can select PLAYING to see and edit your song queue or select BROWSE to browse audio. Browse allows you to scroll through media by artists, albums and songs. 

On the PLAYING screen (shown below), the currently playing song will be highlighted.

To remove a song from the play queue, tap the "x" button.

From the BROWSE tab there are three options to filter music categories. 

USB Audio Browse Panel

1. Artists

  • Album titles are accompanied by cover art when album metadata is available. 
  • Tapping PLAY ALL will play all songs by the selected artist and immediately closes the browse panel. 
  • Tapping the three dots "•••" will reveal two options to add all songs by an artist to the play queue. "Clear and Play" will interrupt the current song to play songs by the selected artist and close the browsing window. "Add to Queue" will add the songs to the play queue and close the browsing window. 

2. Artists > Albums

  • All album titles are accompanied by cover art on flash drives that are loaded with album metadata. 
  • Tapping PLAY ALL will play all songs on the selected album and immediately close the browse panel. 
  • Tapping the three dots "•••" will reveal two options to add all songs on an album to the play queue. "Clear and Play" will interrupt the current song to play the selected album and close the browsing window. "Add to Queue" will add the song to the play queue and close the browsing window. 

3. Artists > Albums > Songs

  • Tapping a song title will immediately begin playing it. All subsequent songs in the album will be queued to play next. 
  • The currently playing song will be indicated by an animated graphic. 
  • Tapping the three dots "•••" will reveal two options to add all songs by an artist to the play queue. "Clear and Play" will interrupt the current song to play the newly selected song and close the browsing window. "Add to Queue" will add the song to the play queue and close the browsing window.  

Bluetooth® Music
When no phone is connected, the Bluetooth® music screen will display a list of paired devices and the option to add a new device.

To access Bluetooth® music, press the source selector button in the top-left corner of the screen. Select BLUETOOTH®.

Once selected, the center of the screen will display information for the song that is playing, including: 

  • Song title
  • Artist
  • Album
  • Song progress bar (includes current location and track length)
  • Playback controls
  • Audio settings (gear) icon

If no sound is available after you begin streaming, check the volume on the Bluetooth® (source) device. Turn the volume up to enable the music to play.

Note: Some playback controls are unavailable when playing music from a streaming service. The playback controls for Bluetooth® music include: 

  • Previous song
  • Play/pause
  • Next song
  • More menu (if available)
